Project 1231

Minimalist and contemporary in design, this coastal home suited our clients’ needs as a growing, young family. Nestled into an extremely steep site, this terraced home is designed with the use of timeless, natural, and low maintenance materials best suited for coastal living with off-shutter boardform concrete, stone, steel and glass to maximise design impact, user experience and harmonise living within nature. The steep site overlooks the estate’s natural reserve and valley beyond with views through to the Indian ocean. With this North-East facing home, a U-shape garnered the most from its seamless outdoor and indoor flow while sheltering occupants from the wind in the courtyard and covered entertainment areas. The glass pavilion living area draws in an abundance of natural light while shading the sun’s rays with large overhangs and allowing for cross ventilation over the lap pool to cool the home in the warmer summer months. The large bedrooms are set below the living area in a bid to create privacy between the public and private zones of the home, whilst still being able to retain the outlook over the natural reserve.
